Relax, keep fit and de-stress in this enjoyable hobby which will help you maintain flexibility.
Beginners Course
Yoga for those who are new to, or have little experience of practicing yoga. Classes to include benefits of yoga, asana practice, simple prana and pranayama practices, meditation, relaxation and philosophy of yoga.
Advanced Course
Yoga for the more experienced student who has been practicing yoga for at least 2 years. Class to include the benefits of yoga, asana practice, prana and pranayama practice, meditation, relaxation and philosophy of yoga.
Learners should dress comfortably in clothes that do not restrict mobility. Some people buy keep fit costumes and leggings. No shoes are required. Most people bring a bedroll to sit on and an extra sweater in case the room is cold.

What Will I Learn?
Beginners Course: to provide an introduction in the basic concepts of yoga.
Advanced Course: to provide a more demanding yoga experience for the more advanced learner.
Assessment and Accreditation
The tutor will ask you to complete a health assessment at the start of the course to make sure the course meets your requirements. The tutor maintains a course assessment sheet to see how you are progressing. She may also use a video or digital camera to record learning. There are no certificates or exams.
What Can I Do Next?
If you would like to teach yoga you can apply to join the 'Yoga Wheel', the professional organisation of yoga tutors. You can also do an NCFE sports instruction qualification at Middlesbrough College. A lecturing qualification is also available through the adult education service. |
