Cake Decoration

Course Information

This course will provide you with the professional skills required to allow you to decorate your own cakes in a variety of ways and for different occasions,from family birthdays to special events e.g. wedding cakes.Learners of all ability levels are welcome.

What Will I Learn?

You will:
develop a range of techniques used in cake decoration
work with different textures of icing
construct centre pieces
learn piping techniques
write with icing
learn painting techniques
create and use lace design

Assessment and Accreditation

Practical assessment will take place during the course and you will put a portfolio of evidence together.On successful completion of the course you can achieve an Open College Network qualification.( optional)

What Should I Bring?

The tutor will discuss the equipment needed at the first session, but some examples are:

an apron, washing utensils, pyrex jug, tea knife, spoon, icing sugar, sieve, dish cloth, tea towel,icing tubes, A4 file, paper and pen.The tutor will advise you each week about the additional resources needed e.g. cakes,icing sugar,greaseproof paper.
